Exploring 1001freefonts.com , dafont.com , urbanfonts.com and the like can be really fun and quite addicting, but figuring out how to use them can be a little tricky.

Here is a quick tutorial to help with the process:

1)      Find a font that fits your project; select the “DOWNLOAD” button.

2)      When prompted open the file.

3)      Double click to open the OPEN TYPE or TRUE TYPE file.

4)      Once open click the “INSTALL” button. This will automatically install it to your computer.

Side Notes:

a.     In some programs you may have to save you project, exit and reopen before the new font is available.

b.     Take notes of the fonts you download (as stated, it is easy to end up downloading multiple files at a time). If you don’t write their titles down they can be difficult to identify in the list.

c.     The new font has been download to your pc, keep this in mind when sending files. If the receiving computer does not have the font downloaded it will not display.
